Golf Equipment & Maintenance
The world of golf equipment is vast and understanding how certain types of equipment can impact your game is a worthy consideration. From the types of clubs used, the shafts, the grips, the balls, and even some of the technologies used to dial in your swing, such as launch monitors and simulators, they play a significant role in game improvements. A professional fitting can help identify the appropriate club setups, even the best type of golf ball you should use to match your swing and produce the best results in your game. Maintaining your equipment is also an important aspect of golf including cleaning your clubs or, if you are a do-it-yourselfer and dare to experiment, attempt to repair and/or assemble your own clubs (however, it might be best to seek the services of a professional).
The sections below include videos which explore some information about golf equipment, my current "what's in the bag" preferences, and some do-it-yourself approaches to club maintenance and repair.
What's In the Bag?
I have several different club setups that I will mix in and out of the bag. Some of this is for experimentation purposes, other times it is choosing a club setup that suits a particular course design, or even to best fit weather conditions. While I think a lot of the name brand equipment is fantastic (and I do own some), I do believe in golf affordability which influences many of my golf equipment purchases. This includes using things like Costoc's Kirkland brand clubs, balls, and gloves, as well as various club purchases from GolfWorks Canada (Maltby brand).
My current setup is most comfortable for colder weather golf. We are in late fall here in Newfoundland and temperatures are getting chilly.
